About Me

My name is Lewis Phillips and I am a singer-songwriter living on the south coast of England.

In 1994 I was blown away by R.E.M.s monster album and just knew then, that I had to play guitar and make music of my own. I had no aspirations to be some famous rock star, just to make music that mattered to me and that was hopefully enjoyed by others. I wanted to create music that would mean something to a listener, just as the music of bands such as R.E.M. has meant so much to me.

From then on, I set about learning to create music, to write songs and to develop my own style and sound. Along the way I drew inspiration and schooling from other artists such as Wilco, Neil young, The Minus 5, Pink Floyd and particularly Grant Lee Buffalo, The Beach Boys and Ken Stringfellow.

I quickly realised that the writing process was very cathartic and personal for me and hope that this sincerity is conveyed In my music. I’ve tried really hard to grow, evolve and finesse a sound and style that’s mine.

And so here I am, just about to hit the wrong side of thirty and I have a body of songs that I have worked hard to amass. March 2012 was a big month for me as I recorded an EP of my songs produced by and featuring the legendary Ken Stringfellow.

Please keep checking in at lewisphillips.co.uk to find out more about this exciting project and to hear the results!

There are demos of my songs you can audition here on my website, they’re a little rough and ready but hopefully the songs shine through.

Thanks for stopping by,

Best,
Lewis

Info

My album is easily going to cost $7000 US to make which is a huge amount of money for me as I am entirely self-funding the project.

Your support in helping me take my songs to the next level of being fully realised studio recordings would mean so much to me. I have, and am continuing to save hard to pay for the album costs, but studio fees etc are very expensive and so any donations you could make to help me on my mission would be most greatfully accepted!

I would be deeply appreciative of anything you could donate towards the project – all doners will recieve a CD of my demo songs and an MP3 copy of my studio album upon its completion.

Dontations can be made securely through paypal via this button:

Thank you so much!

Lewis

I can vouch for the integrity of Lewis's songs, having heard many of them in jam sessions, and think his is a worthwhile cause. There's so much rubbish, over-produced music in the world today, it's great to hear somebody going back to basics and letting good songs speak for themselves. Long may it continue.
